Welcome to the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). Our mission is to protect the public welfare and interest by regulating the alcoholic beverage industry through licensing, education and the enforcement of alcohol laws and regulations, as well as combating youth access to alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in the Commonwealth.
**Effective Jan. 19, 2010, please note a change in license application procedures:
All applicants including Kentucky residents are required to obtain and submit their own Kentucky police record/criminal background check from the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts (KAOC). Kentucky ABC will no longer accept payment or request criminal background checks on behalf of the applicant. Please go to the AOC Web site for full instructions on obtaining background checks.
